I have to admit; this rainy March weather is less than inspiring. The lack of snow coupled with icy, mud-ridden trails has me feeling a bit disconnected. When I arrived at the Nature Center last October, I had envisioned a serene winter environment and great skiing right out my back door. Some people loathe the cold and snow, while I find that the frozen landscape has a meditative quality to it.
Fortunately, I’ve been able to make use of the down time to first build my new website, and then continually make changes and improvements as I go. The biggest challenge has been to move it forward as a creative endeavor rather than view it as an obstacle. I’ve altered a few things based on feedback I received, such as lowering the background image to keep the gallery titles from disappearing into the green foliage and altering text color and size to make things stand out a bit more. I’ve added a short description for each gallery and after a few days of tech support and guidance, I now have a thumbnail image that loads when I post the link, instead of an empty box. While that may seem like a simple task, for someone such as myself who has no background in web design, it was daunting. The next step, aside from increasing visibility and SEO (search engine optimization), will be setting up a page for purchasing prints. So here it is again, the new and improved www.colintyler.com, now newer and more improved!
