Lynx
Elusive and stealthy, witnessing and photographing lynx is a rare opportunity. I have had a number of wonderful encounters with these ghosts of the northern forests.

Great Horned Owls of the Eagle River Nature Center
Eagle River Valley supports a healthy owl population. The wealth of old cottonwood trees provides prime nesting opportunities. In late winter and early spring, one can often hear the mating calls of various species throughout the valley. This gallery includes images of great-horned owls and saw-whet owls.

Saw-whet Owls
The saw-whet owl population seems to be growing in Alaska. In 2020 I had opportunities to join local owl enthusiasts/biologists in monitoring nesting boxes and banding fledgling owls.

Banding Boreal Owl Fledglings
In June of 2022 I had the opportunity to join two biologists and photograph the process of banding the little owls before they fledged from the nest. Between both biologists, they monitor approximately 100 nesting boxes throughout Alaska, and this was the only box inhabited by boreal owls.
Wildlife of India
I visited India in 2013 with a good friend and fellow photographer, our primary goal was to witness and photograph tigers. We toured four different national parks - Kaziranga, Ranthambore, Bandhavgarh and Kanha. This is a collection of images that I captured of wild Bengal tigers, one-horned Indian rhinoceros, spotted leopard, water buffalo, spotted deer, monkeys, elephants, jackal, sloth bear, barasingha deer and more.

Dances with Swans
In the spring of 2015, a pair of trumpeter swans graced the waters at the Eagle River Nature Center for more than two weeks, pausing on their seasonal migration route. During that time, I spent countless hours with them, observing their behavior and allowing them to accept my presence. Eternally grateful for the quality time we had together and the beautiful opportunities they presented, I have gathered my favorite moments into this collection, appropriately titled "Dances with Swans." Enjoy. See also: "Dances with Swans, Part Deux" and "Dances with Swans, Partie Trois."
It appears that the trumpeter swans I had been photographing near the Nature Center have left to continue their migration to summer nesting grounds. They were here for just over two weeks - almost the exact dates as last year, though I cannot say for certain whether this is the same pair that I photographed in 2015. Once again, they provided several opportunities and magical moments, allowing me to capture and share their beauty and grace. See also: "Dances with Swans" and "Dances with Swans, Partie Trois."

For the third year in a row, this pair of trumpeter swans was stopped by the creek near the Eagle River Nature Center on their northward journey. I always cherish this time of year and the beautiful opportunities they present. Here are a few highlights from their time here. See also: "Dances with Swans" and "Dances with Swans, Part Deux."
